Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was an athlete of natural talent and was a fan of tough athletic games. Her ability to perform was a perfect complement to the passion she had for athletics. That was evident when she took home every Feis for theatre and drama which Ireland could offer. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14 and was able to pursue her dream of performing in classical and opera. Charles Laughton became captivated with the stunning eyes of Maureen after the screening test he attended. Prior to casting her for the role in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton along with his co-star, Erich Pommer, changed her name instead of Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" - - a less slender name to be used for the marquee. Maureen FitzSimons' subsequent movie (The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939-1939) was set to be produced at RKO Pictures in America under agreement with Laughton. The contract Maureen signed with Laughton was bought by RKO following this film was a great success. Maureen Laughton was involved in two motion picture productions before she reached 19 years old.
